Dr. Hans Deckmyn, a belgiumi Leuven-i Katolikus Egyetem professzorának díszdoktori avatása a Debreceni Egyetemen 2009. június 6.

Hans Deckmyn born in 1953 is a Professor of Chemistry at the Katholic University of Leuven and the Director of Thrombosis Research Laboratory at Campus Kortrijk. Executive officer of the European Thrombosis Research Organization, Editorial Board Member of several international scientific jourmals. His excellent work on different aspects of thrombosis and hemostasis earned him high international reputation among fellow scientists, who has layed down the foundation of new approaches to the profilaxis of atherothombotic diseases. He has produced  close to a quarter of thousand scientific publications in highly respected international scientific journals with a total impact factor over 500 and around 5000 citations. He has received several awards and prizes including awards from the Royal Academy of Medicine of  Belgium, the Fulbright Foundation and the Baron Simonart Foundation for Clinical Pharmacological Research.
He has been keeping contact with our University since 1986. Twelve young scientists from Debrecen spent longer period of times in his laboratory, two of them prepared their PhD thesis under his supervision and two additional PhD students were jointly supervised by himself and scientists from Debrecen. His students also regularly visit laboratories at our University. Professor Deckmyn frequently, 1-2 occasions per year, delivers seminars for scientists and students in Debrecen; in 2005 he was our Pro renovanda visiting professor. The results of longstanding cooperation resulted in 17 joint publications and three joint grants.
