THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings

The British Times Higher Education (THE) world ranking only includes higher education institutions that offer basic training and trainings in several academic fields. The ranking is compiled based on the learning environment, research quality, the number of publication citations related to the institution, market revenue, the number of international staff and students. The first three indicators weigh 30-30 percent, the market revenue 2.5 percent and internationality 7.5 percent in the final score. The quality of the learning environment is evaluated on the basis of several indicators, such as the staff-to-student ratio, doctorate-to-bachelor’s ratio, the proportion of postgraduate students and the institutional income. In terms of research quality, the academic reputation of the institution, the income from research and the number of publications are considered. In the case of internationality, three indicators are taken into account by the creators of the list: the proportion of international staff and students and the number of publications with international co-authors.
