Department of Pediatrics

Our department is the health education, healing, and scholarly center of the Northern Great Plain and Northern Hungary twin regions. Children are treated at our department with all diseases as we provide service in the complete range of childcare. Besides the general diagnostic and therapeutic methods of pediatrics, we use new, state-of-the-art procedures as well. In terms of outpatient services, we treat patients at our emergence ambulatory care and offer the full range of specialized outpatient clinics: pediatric cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, diabetology, child neurology, pediatric surgery, follow-up care of premature babies, nephrology, hematology/oncology. The outpatient specialist consultations are supplemented by ultrasound, X-ray, and laboratory tests and examinations. At our inpatient wards we treat children suffering from a wide spectrum of diseases from birth through age eighteen: our general infant and pediatric care unit is specialized in treating patients with diseases and disorders of the heart, the kidney, the gastrointestinal tract, the nervous system, and the endocrine system; the preterm, neonatal, and pediatric intensive care unit, the pediatric surgery division,  the hematological/oncological departments for the treatment of patients with diseases of hematopoietic organs and cancer, as well as the allergology department and the department for the treatment of respiratory diseases have been awarded the status of academic departments recently.

Besides graduate programs, we also participate in the residency program, we organize trainings for pediatric specialists and family pediatricians.

We are dedicated to high-quality in patient care, teaching, as well as scholarly affairs. We strive to create such a hospital atmosphere in which the interest of the children on the path to recovery and their families is of primary concern, while there is also an honest atmosphere, a sense of understanding, and respect for each other’s work.
